Stock Alert

Please alert me via email when this product is back in stock.

This rifle has an adjustable set trigger. Normal operation offers a clean, crisp break set at 3lbs 8oz. By pushing the trigger forward the trigger is set at a very satisfying 9oz. This particular rifle is in excellent condition overall; the bore is unmarked, the crown is in as new condition and the stock bears only minor indications of use that do nothing more than add to its character.

The rifle is supplied with a beautiful Akah woven leather sling with QD swivels, Rusan 1" scope rings and bases as well as 30 rounds of Norma .270 130gr ammunition, encased in its original Heym hard case with manual.

With the rise in non-toxic ammunition, more people are questioning certain calibres and their prowess. It is reassuring that traditional calibres such as this will never suffer that scrutiny. The Heym SR30 rifle offers dynamic engineering, traditional looks, blistering speed and all the power any UK hunter would ever need, wrapped up in a beautiful Bavarian outfit...

The action is incredibly strong, so strong that Heym have successfully tested it at 110,000psi pressure, which is about double the 55,000psi pressure of a typical full power rifle cartridge. The roller locked bolt mechanism uses 6 ball bearings symmetrically positioned around the circumference of the bolt head as locking elements. When the bolt handle is pushed forward, it forces a central plunger down the interior of the bolt body, forcing the 6.5mm diameter ball bearings out to lock into a negative recess in the receiver. There are not six matching negative shaped (concave) recesses in the receiver. That would be very hard to practically produce at the required precision level. Instead there is a simple continuous groove machined for the six ball bearings to lock into. The continuous semi-round groove in conjunction with the barrel positions the bolt to the front and back and regulates a practically achievable headspace during production. The lockup strengthens with increased chamber pressure. The plunger retracts when the bolt handle is pulled back, allowing the locking bearings to retract into the bolt body so the bolt can open.

The bolt of the Heym SR30 can be classified as a semi-rigid type, since the locking elements are movably mounted on the bolt. The bolt handle can be placed in three positions: Open, Locked and uncocked, and Locked and cocked. By pressing the bolt handle fully forward the user can manually cock the action just before firing. When the user chooses not to fire manually, pulling the bolt handle backward it uncocks the action again for safe carry.
