Bolt action firearms are controlled by the opening and closing of the breach which is manually operated by a bolt. The bolt is made up of a tube of metal which contains the firing structure. Several metal lugs sit at the front or rear of the tube and hold the locking mechanism in place.
Bolt action rifles have been in operation for almost two centuries, and for good reason. Modern bolt action firearms are a great example of the kind of durability and accuracy that all of our customers here at Allcocks depend upon. Many hunters are enormous advocates of bolt action, due to their long-term dependability. This is because, as with anything mechanical, the simplicity of the design and operation means they're less likely to develop problems.
