'Česká zbrojovka' literally translates to 'Czech Armory', and was, at one time, one of many 'CZs'. The origins of the company dates back to 1936, when it was founded as a branch plant of a company called 'Česká zbrojovka Strakonice'.
When production began in 1937, the company focused on civil and military armaments. The first products created were military aircraft guns, pistols and rifles. During the Second World War, the factory was forced to refocus on military arms repair due to Nazi occupation.
After the war however, the CZ firearms restarted production and haven't looked back. These days their factory employs nearly 2,000 engineers, draughtsman and business operatives - making it one of the biggest arms manufacturers in the world.
