Dinsmores Shock Beads 6mm are designed to be an essential part of modern rig construction, particularly when using heavy leads, quick changes in tension, or braided hooklinks. At 6mm in diameter, these beads are sized to fit most standard rigs while offering enough thickness to act as a buffer between terminal components such as swivels, knots, or lead clips. The main purpose of a shock bead is to absorb sudden pulls or jerks on the line when a fish picks up the bait or a lead hits the bottom, helping to reduce direct stress on knots and preventing premature wear.

Made from durable, resilient plastic, these shock beads resist cracking even under repeated compression or impacts. They are tough enough to withstand the strain from casting heavy leads yet flexible enough to be threaded easily onto line or leader material during rig assembly. Their presence between rig components can also reduce the chance of abrasion where the line contacts metal or hard surfaces, which in turn helps maintain the strength and integrity of the rig over extended use.

In addition to protection, shock beads can help with presentation by keeping knots and terminal connections neat and slightly separated, which reduces the likelihood of tangles or erratic behaviour underwater. Their design makes them suitable for a wide range of fishing styles, from ledger and feeder setups to heavier carp rigs where changes in tension are frequent and abrupt.

  • 6mm durable plastic beads act as a buffer to protect knots and terminal connections from shock and abrasion

  • Helps absorb sudden pulls or impacts from leads or fish movement, extending rig life and maintaining strength

  • Assists in keeping rig components separated and organised, improving underwater presentation and reducing tangles
