Bisley Snap Caps are inert training cartridges made to replicate the size and shape of real ammunition for shotguns and rifles. They are used to safely perform dry firing, allowing the trigger to be pulled without the risk of damaging the firing pin or internal action. Inside the case head is a cushioned or spring-loaded section that absorbs the impact of the firing pin strike.

This protective design is important because repeated dry firing on an empty chamber can cause wear or damage to firing pins in some firearms. Snap caps prevent this by providing a safe surface for the firing pin to strike, extending the life of the mechanism while still allowing realistic trigger operation.

They are also widely used for training and handling practice. Shooters can safely rehearse loading, unloading, cycling actions, malfunction drills, and trigger control without live ammunition. This helps build familiarity with firearm operation in a safe environment and is useful for both beginners and experienced users.

Snap caps are calibre-specific and are designed to fit correctly in the chamber, closely matching the dimensions and weight of real cartridges. Many are reusable and can withstand repeated use over time, making them a practical training and maintenance tool.

  • Inert cartridges designed for safe dry firing and firearm function testing
  • Protect firing pins and internal mechanisms from damage during repeated dry fire use
  • Calibre-specific design allows realistic training for loading, cycling, and handling skills
