The Bisley Adjustable Butt Pad is a replacement recoil pad system designed to be fitted to the end of a rifle or shotgun stock. It consists of a rubber recoil pad mounted on an aluminium backing plate that can be adjusted for both height and angle. This allows the shooter to fine-tune how the firearm sits against the shoulder for improved comfort and more consistent shooting position.

The main purpose of the design is to reduce felt recoil and improve ergonomics. By adding a cushioned rubber surface, it absorbs some of the impact generated when firing, which helps reduce shoulder fatigue during longer shooting sessions. The adjustable mechanism allows vertical movement of the pad, typically up to around 50mm, so the length of pull can be slightly extended or shortened depending on the shooter’s needs.

It also allows cant adjustment, meaning the pad can be angled to better match the shape of the shoulder pocket. This helps prevent slipping during recoil and improves stability when aiming. The aluminium backing plate provides a strong mounting base while still allowing the unit to be shaped or adapted during installation if required for a specific stock.

Installation is not always completely drop-in, as some versions require fitting work such as drilling or minor stock modification. Once fitted, it becomes a semi-permanent part of the firearm and is commonly used by hunters and target shooters who want better fit and recoil management without replacing the entire stock.
