A bonded seal (often known as a Dowty seal or sealing washer) is a type of high-pressure sealing component designed to prevent fluid or gas leakage in mechanical assemblies. It consists of a rigid metal outer ring bonded to an inner rubber sealing insert, typically nitrile or similar elastomer.
When tightened between two mating surfaces, the rubber section compresses to form a tight seal while the metal ring controls deformation and prevents over-compression. This design allows the seal to withstand high pressures while maintaining consistent sealing performance in dynamic or static applications.
Bonded seals are commonly used in hydraulic systems, air systems, and threaded fittings where reliable sealing around bolts, plugs, or adapters is required. They are particularly effective in applications where traditional flat washers or O-rings may not provide sufficient resistance to pressure or vibration.
Their construction also makes them easy to install, requiring no special grooves or housing, which simplifies fitting into standard threaded assemblies.

Returns
If it is deemed necessary to return an item for exchange or refund, please note the following:
Goods returned must be in original packaging, with labels still attached.
Notification of intention to return must be provided within 14 days of receipt.
Goods must be delivered to us within 14 days of return notification.
Goods must have accompanying copy receipt for return.
Goods returned unwanted are subject to a minimum postage charge of £3.50 or the actual delivery costs incurred to us, whichever is the greater.
Returned goods must be in new condition, i.e. unused and unmarked with labels attached.
Costs incurred in returning items are your responsibility.
