If you're not familiar with this calibre, please allow a brief history;
.17 Remington is based on the .223 Remington case necked down to .172 in (4.37 mm), with the shoulder moved back. It was designed exclusively, in 1971 by Remington Arms Company, for their model 700 rifles as a varmint round. Extremely high initial velocity (over 4000 ft/s), flat trajectory and very low recoil are the .17 Remington's primary attributes. It has a maximum effective range of about 440 yards. The smaller .172 bullet typically has a much lower ballistic coefficient than other typical varmint calibres, such as that of the .223 Remington. Because of this, the .172 bullet loses velocity slightly sooner and is more sensitive to wind; but by no means does this render the cartridge useless. The advantages of this cartridge are low recoil and flat trajectory and the .17 Remington is noted for exceptional accuracy. This reputation for accuracy is due in no small part to the fact that only good quality rifles such as this Tikka have been so chambered from the factory. This rifle is in good overall condition only showing slight indications of use. It is supplied with a DPT Modular Mk II sound moderator and a Britannia 0-MOA Picatinny rail. The package also includes all components to reload the ammunition for this unique calibre. (See images of additional reloading equipment for details) What is absolutely fair to say is, this rifle and calibre were selected by a professional for its reliability and prowess and will be an absolute delight for anyone yearning to experience this marvellous calibre.
