The Sako 85 Varmint Laminated Stainless rifle is a real weatherproof tack-driver, designed to deliver the chosen bullet with pinpoint accuracy over distance. Fitted with a heavy weight, free-floating barrel, the varmint model is best used off a rest or bipod with a large objective, higher magnification scope and quality moderator. The already spectacular Sako 85 trigger is enhanced with a 'set' function in this model to provide real-world target performance in a hunting package. The Sako 85 Varmint Laminate Stainless is a firm favourite with Allcocks staff who use it in both .204 and .223 calibres.

The Sako 85 Varmint Laminated Stainless comes with all the same qualities as the Varmint, but with its stainless metal parts and stable laminate stock it is perfect in rough conditions. The fluted barrel accelerates barrel cooling and furthermore, gives this beautiful rifle an extra dose of good looks.

Since the 1920's, Finnish manufacturer Sako have gained an enviable reputation for designing and building rock-solid, reliable rifles with a Nordic eye for clean lines and ease of use. The flagship Sako 85 centrefire range boast the world's most advanced turnbolt action in 6 different action sizes, each  tailored to the calibre, while the A7 series gives hunters access to medium priced Sako quality by optimising available action sizes and parts.

Features:

PISTOL GRIP

The pronounced pistol grip is designed to improve the ergonomics of the prone position.

ACTION

Sako 85 actions come in six different sizes (CSA), providing reliable functioning for each calibre. All Sako 85 models feature controlled cartridge feed (RCS) to eliminate double feed or cartridge jams. The turn-bolt handle places the hand in a natural position during bolt operation, which allows for rapid repeated firing.

BARREL

Sako 85 barrels are manufactured with a passion for craftsmanship and the very best knowledge of Sako. Barrel blanks are drilled, honed, cold- hammer forged, finished and finally individually inspected by an optical fine-tuning instrument: the human eye. Twist rates are chosen for each calibre to optimise accuracy and bullet performance. Sako 85 barrels, blued or stainless, have a non-reflecting, satin-like surface – with the exception of the Sako 85 Deluxe and Safari models that have a highly polished finish.

MAGAZINE

The Sako 85 magazine is built for efficiency and robustness. A staggered, two-row design to maximise the quantity of cartridges whilst staying flush to the rifle. The detachable magazine can also be loaded through the ejection port. The Total Control Latch (patent pending) of the Sako 85 prevents accidental magazine release.

SAFETY

The popular two-way Sako safety locks both the trigger and the bolt handle. The unique bolt release button of the Sako Safety System allows you to load or remove a cartridge from the chamber while the safety is engaged.

STOCK

The ergonomics of Sako 85’s walnut and synthetic stocks are built for an optimal shooting posture. The excellent balance and smooth bolt operation of Sako 85 rifles enable fast, straight and accurate operation.

TRIGGER

The weight of pull of the single- stage Sako 85 trigger unit is adjustable from 1 to 2 kg (2–4 lbs). An optional single-set trigger is available for most Sako 85 models. All Sako 85 rifles have an extremely durable, all-steel trigger guard that protects the trigger. An exception to this are the Finnlight and Carbonlight models, which have a lightweight hard-anodised aluminium trigger guard.
