Very good condition numbers matching example of a Remington made 1858. This pistol was reconditioned in 1948 and remains in good condition. The serial number dates this pistol to around 1863. The inspectors cartouche on the grip is worn but 'GP' is still legible, which corresponds to either George Palmer or Giles Porter in the US Arms Inspector lists. The barrel, frame, trigger guard and push rod are stamped 'P', 'W' and 'F' and the top of the barrel is stamped 'Patented Sept. 14. 1858 Remington & Sons Ilon. New York. U.S New Model'.
