Dinsmores Back Leads — 30g are specialised fishing leads used primarily by carp and coarse anglers to control the fishing line’s behaviour between the rod tip and the water. When rods are set up on bank sticks, pods, or rests, line can often hang loosely from the tip to the water’s surface, especially at short distances or when banking fish at an angle. Back leads provide a simple yet effective solution: by clipping or sliding a 30g back lead onto the mainline between the rod tip and the water, the angler creates downward pressure that pulls the line tighter behind the setup.

This tension helps reduce slack, minimise unwanted movement caused by wind or surface chop, and improve sensitivity to subtle bites. The 30g weight is substantial enough to keep line under control without creating excessive drag, making it suitable for moderate distances and typical carp fishing scenarios where line management is crucial.

Back leads are especially useful when fishing at an angle from a raised bank, platform, or hard‑standing area, where the line would otherwise slacken and reduce the effectiveness of bite detection. By positioning back leads along the line behind the rod tip, anglers can enhance contact with the baited spot, reduce the risk of false strikes, and maintain more responsive rig behaviour.

  • 30g back leads designed to pull line behind rod supports tighter, reducing slack and improving presentation control.

  • Helps maintain line tension from rod tip to water, enhancing bite detection in varied conditions.

  • Useful in bank, platform, or elevated fishing scenarios where line lay management is important.
